About

Welcome to the Special Needs Community London Network

Special Needs Community (SNC) London is the network platform for SEND professionals,  organisations, groups, businesses working in the SEND sector. SNC London was created from our work running our sister organisation Special Needs Community (SNC) CIC, which is a social enterprise that caters to families with children, young people, and adults with special needs and disabilities. SNC managed Harrow Parent Forum (formerly Harrow Parent 4 Disabled Children which was formed in 2008 from Aiming High for Disabled Children initiative which is part of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums -NNPCF).

*Please note SNC London is a private limited company (by shares) and operates separately from the CIC*

This network platform was specifically created by parent carers to support professionals, staff, and leaders of organisations in their roles supporting families. As parent carers, we have a peripheral view of the SEND landscape as we are probably the only group in society that are required to navigate the Education, Health, and Social Care departments of local and national governments simultaneously. As such, we have gained unique knowledge and perspectives of the SEND system. After years of working with professionals in various settings, from key staff and decision-makers in the local authorities to leaders of local groups, we have acquired information, knowledge, and expertise that we have used to improve and co-produced local services in conjunction with our partners. We have become adept at finding innovative solutions to community challenges because we assume our share of responsibility as equal partners in co-production.

Our successful projects include:

London has it very own specific and rich ecosystem that exists within each borough. Collectively, in each local authority, organisation or community group, collaborate to create a strong network for support for their own SEND communities. They offer a range of services, information, and support across London and work together to share ideas, best practices, and build a strong foundation to enable children, young people, adults, and their families to thrive. We all benefit from learning from each other and collaborate to find innovative solutions for our London SEND community.

We help raise awareness of inclusion and equal opportunities for our SEND community, give voice to those we serve, and promote other SEND networks within London. We hope to pull together the rich fabric of the SEND community for London to promote more collaborative working and resource sharing to identify gaps in provision and improve the quality of life for our community.

We are proud to be part of our INFORMED, INSPIRED & EMPOWERED NETWORK ACROSS LONDON. Join us and register on to our network platform for a range of resources and opportunities to develop your objectives, brand and network.
